<Rant>There is not mistake, i always feel that there is some @#$hole at the USCIS or state dept whose only goal in life is to get a sadistic kick by toying with the dates. How can these @#$@#@'s not realize that there is a person behind each visa number </Rant>
Like my title says - Could it be a mistake on their part for EB3 I ? Was it meant to be 15th April 2002 ?
In March of This year it was 15th Oct 2001. Then it goes to U for untli Oct and now its 15th April 2001 (gone back 6 months !!!!) This seems odd for a new fiscal year with new Visa Quota however small EB3I may be - are there still that many 2000-2001 applications pre-adjudicated in the system waiting for a visa that they had to roll it back ?

Retrogressed all the way to 2000? Happened at the end of Q3 in the government calendar. Seem to me USCIS is laying the ground to assign all un-used visa number to indians in Q4. Just a guess....
Indians have older PDs than Chinese, so its a fair game if that happens.

You can file for an EAD up to 4 months in advance... according to my lawyer

They would present their logic and arguments with facts they may have.
When ImmigrationVoice present their case they would present their logic,
arguments and facts which they have.
Then it is for lawmakers to decide who is more convincing and
what is best for AMERICA and its people
Do not worry. If we have convincing arguments and facts and
backing from the experts, which we have, we shall be heard.

Whoever the lawmaker was who came up with the idea of allocating leftover EB4, EB-5 to EB-1 ! What? the least wanted category giving away its quota to highly deserving EB-1 ? How low can their thinking go ?
What ? the leftover EB-1 highly deserving visas given to slightly less deserving EB2 ? :)
Is there a proposal with IV to seek rethinking abt this spillover process ?

I do not think IV is standing alone on this issue. I think that IV is making alliances based on our membership size, funding and reach capabilities. Many times when such alliances may be formed, the other side may not want to be identified in the media. This is particularly true in the current political climate where each side is out to villify the other. I believe that as individuals we should keep creating more awareness among fellow retrogression sufferers and GC applicants alike. I find it amazing that there are so many applicants out there who have not heard about IV. I keep meeting people who suffer from so many retrogression issues and then again they are doing nothing to fight it.

I will be following you pretty soon. I should be there by December 2011! I would like to provide a small piece of advice to others who are contemplating moving back but haven't made the decision yet.
Before that, a little bit about my story- I came to the US in April 2005 with the intention of living here for five years and then returning back for good. I told my brother about my intentions, which for some reason made him laugh. He said 90% of the people intend to "move back in five years" but never actually do. You have kids here and then they grow up and start going to school. Then you feel your kids will not adjust to schooling in India, and you end up living here. I didn't care so much about his comments until two years later. My brother again asked me - so when are you moving back? I said - in another five years. Holy S***!!! I never realized when my five year plan became a seven year plan!!!
So now coming to my word of advice - set a hard date and work towards that date! Don't just say "in a couple of years"! In December 2006 I set my return date to April 2012 and started working towards it. I started thinking seriously about what I wanted to do in India, what I needed to do here now to improve my chances of succeeding in India, etc. I asked my wife to answer the same questions about her career in India (by the way, it's our joint decision to move back!). I will be starting my own business when I move back. I have already identified partners, made some connections in Mumbai and have started talking to potential customers. I will be making a brief visit to Mumbai later in March, and am planning to move back for good by December 2011.
So if you are serious about moving, set a hard date and work towards it. Otherwise, five year plans become seven, ten, fifteen year plans and you end up living here for good (nothing wrong with that by the way, if that's your intention)!

Hi,
There are several restrictions/constraints for many ppl for not being able to devote time/money for the general cause. Let's not fret about the reasons. While it would help for all ppl to join forces that should not distract the group that is doing something about the issues.
And ppl on the sidelines - pls don't be a passive professional critique. However valuable your comments and ideas are they are useless without acting upon it - they are just like seeds sown in a barren land. The good work of the forum will continue without your presence. With your involvement we all can reach the goal that much more faster.
My Labor certification is actually filed in the state of IL. But i am on an assignment in MD till Sep 2010 (after filing for relevant amendments).
It's ~5 hrs drive for me to Baltimore/Washington-DC. So, coming every week for a meeting is not practical. I am extremely eager to support OUR cause given the commuting constraints. I have already written to our congress man here to bring to his notice the struggles of wannabee immigrants.
So, where do i sign up?

The only one thing the nonimmigrants should aware of Mortgage is they can't expect 100% finance, as per my lender we need to make at a minimum 10% down.

This varies widely from lender to lender.
I was able to get approved for 100% financing for an investment property (which is even harder to get financing for). I decided not to buy it later though.
Always try different kinds of lenders. Big banks, small banks, credit unions. Also try mortgage brokers. Sooner or later you'll make a hit.

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

My guess is Eb3 India will not be current this year. From other Law firm site I observe that we will see mini version of what happend last year so I guess Eb2 I will be current .. ( Not because I am Eb2 ( I ) ) . Eb3 ROW will be C guys soon..

Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On August 8, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
Hope I will receive GC soon. Haven't got CPO mails/status yet.

FP is definitely not connected to background check. I am sailing in the same boat. My application date was july 17th and notice day was Sep 10th. I opened a SR 45 days back with no response. NSC-TSC transfer case..:confused:
